👋 Hi!

🧭 Key Principles

  • Take time to learn. In your first 14 days, try to focus on getting comfortable and learning how things work.
  • Invest in relationships. By day 30, you'll be in execution mode. In your first month, spend as much time as you can getting to know people and forming relationships.
  • Don't be afraid to ask. No one expects you to know how things work right away. Take advantage of that and ask your Program Experience Team for help when you need it.

🤟 Meet your Community

At Black and Good, we do Community differently. Here, a community isn’t just a database of people, it is a membership or a fraternity of like-minded individual who will become a tight-knit support system that allows each member to succeed in their own right within it.

Everyone in our community was chosen for a reason. There is a lot you can learn from each other. All you have to do is dive in and discover. We organise the Community via Mighty Network which is an all-in-one social communication platform. On our Mighty Network platform, you will be able to:
  • See all the members in our community
  • Engage in conversations around specific topics
  • Discover new ideas
  • Follow topics you are interested in or want to get involved in
  • Ask for help by telling the community what you need
  • Gain access to a network of potential collaborators and clients by offering support to those in need

We have created a few guiding articles to help you navigate the Mighty Network platform that you will find on the Discover page. If you need any more help, reach out to us and we’ll get back to you ASAP.

🧐 What are Groups?

If you’ve decided to enter into Groups, this section is for you. You can choose to activate the Groups aspect of your Membership at any time. It takes 2 weeks from that date of your request to place you in a Group.

So what are they? The most important function of our Community is the Groups. Groups are how we ensure that each individual member is engaged in activities that have been proven in our work and in entrepreneurial research, to significantly raise the chances of success for business owners. If you do nothing else within the community, ensure that you prioritise the activities that take place within your Group.

As far as time commitment goes, your Group will require 2-3 hours a week of your time. In that time, you will be engaged in peer-support activities that will significantly impact the growth trajectory of your business, and you as a leader.

🤝 Meet your Group

Everyone in your Group was chosen for a reason. We’ve taken all the information you each provided us with and matched you as we’ve seen fit.

Each group has a maximum of 12 people in it and they’re going to be the people you cheer on and get support from for the next 6 months of your business journey. Groups change every 6 months. If you are unhappy in a Group, you can request a change by contacting the Program Experience Team.

Here are the activities that will take place in your Group each month. You are expected to engage in all of these activities as a Group member.

Group Activities

Slip Stream
This is a monthly webinar we produce to help contextualise the discussion you will be having in your Group throughout the month. We provide useful reading materials, recommendations and other support tools to help you achieve specific leadership milestones as you continue to build your business.

Weekly Brew
Grab your coffee, tea, matcha latte or your can of coke and join your group for a chat about life, business and the pursuit of profit. Celebrate your wins and commiserate your losses with a group of people that really have your back. These informal chats will help you get to know your Group better and will make it easier for you to give and receive support in the future.

Fire Pit
As the name suggests, this is where your group members have permission to hold your feet to the fire on the things you said you would do to move your business forward. With respect and professionalism, in these monthly meetings, you’ll hold each other accountable and push each other forward.

Boost it
Member-led online events are a great opportunity for you to find potential clients and collaborators. Your Group will help you boost the effectiveness of your presentation so that you can meet your targets. With their help, you’ll create a 40-minute webinar that expresses your expertise in the context of personal, professional or entrepreneurial growth.

Super Say
Running a business can be really hard, with a lot of boring and thankless activities. In these monthly sessions, you’ll get to say and hear compliments about yourself and other members of your Group.

🌱 How Group activities work

  • Weekly Brew
    • You will receive a calendar invite to join in your Weekly Brew session that includes a link to join the virtual call.
    • When you join the call, introduce yourself to the other attendees as you would for any other virtual call you engage in.
    • Start with, MAD, SAD, GLAD. Everyone in the Group will, in their turn, declare themselves to be in one of the three expressive states. This is a great way to contextualise the experience of people in your group. If you are feeling mad about the week ahead, explain why that is. Similarly, explain why you are feeling sad or glad if that is the case instead.
    • In turns again, talk about the big goal you have for the week and what impact achieving that goal will have on the growth of your business. Be brief, but give just enough context so that if anyone in the Group can help you, they will know how to do so.
  • Fire Pit
    • You will receive a calendar invite to join in your Fire Pit session that includes a link to join the virtual call.
    • When you join the call, introduce yourself to the other attendees as you would for any other virtual call you engage in.
    • In the Notes section of your phone, or in a physical diary, you should have written down all your answers over the weeks of Weekly Brew. You’ll know how many times you were MAD, SAD or GLAD about the week ahead, you’ll know the goals you set, and the impact you thought achieving those goals would have. Most importantly, you’ll know whether you achieved those goals or not.
    • In this virtual call, you will each report to the rest of the group the information you have collected about yourself over the week, your ability to achieve your goals as you set them out in Weekly Brew and if you did achieve them, whether they had the effect you thought they would on your business.
    • Respectfully, members of your Group will challenge you and volunteer helpful pointers that will help you get better so that you are able to achieve more and become more effective in your business.
    • When you’re ready, use the Fire Pit session to entice a member or two to join you in a Boost session.
  • Boost
    • Unlike Weekly Brew and Firepit, these meetings are not set by the Program Experience team. They are set between individual Group members.
    • The goal of these conversations is to work together to help each other develop webinars that will help you build your voice as an expert in your field. Webinars are an effective way to get access to potential clients and collaborators. By sharing what you know in an informative webinar (that doesn’t give away your secret sauce), you’ll be able to entice people to work with you.
    • These conversations between 2-3 Group members, will consist of you sending a recording of your presentation with a request for feedback and points of clarification.
    • The webinars will be advertised to the entire Black and Good Community, all of whom could very well be clients or collaborators in the future, so it really is in your best interest to develop something great.
    • Every Group member will be expected to have run their first webinar within three months of starting in their Group.
  • Super Say
    • You will receive a calendar invite to join in your Super Say session that includes a link to join the virtual call.
    • When you join the call, introduce yourself to the other attendees as you would for any other virtual call you engage in.
    • Everyone must pick a number between 1 and 12. Number 1 is the game-master (no one can be the game master twice).
    • Number 1 will have to share their screen with the rest of the Group in this virtual call. The person that does will have to go on this website. It is a virtual roll of two dice.
    • Number 1 will start the game by rolling the dice a first time, and then rolling it a second time. The two people represented by those dice rolls will each have to say something they think the other person is Super at. That’s the simple premise of Super Say.
    • If it lands on the same number in both rolls, roll again until it lands on a new number.
    • Make a note of everything that is said about you during the call. Think about the types of Super Says you got, and importantly the Super Says other people got that you didn’t get. This simple game is a great way to find out more about how you are perceived and where you can grow.

🌟 90-day milestones

Achieving these goals will help you engage better with the community and get the most out of your experience with us.

Outcome and Steps

I had 10 private message chats with really awesome people who’ve helped me understand my goals and business better. Chatting with members about your goals and challenges, listening to theirs as well will help you expand your understanding of business and build up a resilience to challenges you may face in the future.
  1. Read through the Topics you are interested in to see what people are posting. Pay particular attention to posts that have some commentary (not just links).
  2. Read the commentary and reach out to them to have a conversation if you’re interested in learning more about their take.
  3. Do this at least 10 times.

I shared something useful in at least one Topic I follow once a day. Not only is this really helpful for the other people in the Community, but it will also raise your profile as well so you’ll find collaborators and clients easily. Challenging yourself to find this useful information will help you get in the habit of researching and reading up on best practice for your industry.
  1. Make a list of useful blogs, magazines and websites for your chosen Topics.
  2. Read a couple of articles every day and post a link and commentary on one or more of the articles you've read in the corresponding Topic.
  3. Build your followers within the Community that could turn into potential clients and collaborators

I paired up with someone in my Group to run a test session of my member-led webinar. It is always easier to complete a task if you’re doing it with someone that can help you think the content through and cheer you on all the way.
  1. Decide what you want your webinar to be focused on
  2. Create the draft presentation in PowerPoint or Canva
  3. Ask one or two members of your group to take some time to run through the 40-minute presentation.
  4. Record the presentation on Zoom or another platform that allows you to screen record.
  5. Send the presentation over to the Group members in a chat with the link to the recording on your Google Drive or Dropbox.
  6. Invite your Group members to share their feedback and points of clarification with you.

I ran a webinar for members of the community. This is a great way to raise your profile within the community, gain potential clients and collaborators.
  1. When you’re ready, get in touch with the Program Experience Team to book in a slot to present your webinar.
  2. Finalise all the details of the virtual event with the team.
  3. Make the presentation LIVE to members of the Community.
  4. Gain followers within the Community who are also potential clients and collaborators as well.
